For this cake, I used 2 small oval cake pans. I used Yolanda’s vanilla cake recipe. I filled the cake with my strawberry sauce recipe, I drained some of the thinner liquid through a sieve first ( there wasn’t much.
I used this stabalized whipped cream recipe, I just lessened the sugar to 2 tbsp. It worked better for me.
To make the red and black icing, I used Yolanda’s recipe for Italian Meringue Buttercream! Once you taste it and work with it, you won’t go back! It’s gorgeous tasting and easy to work with! I used a wilton tip 12 to make a border on each cake layer to hold all the strawberry and whipped cream filling. I also piped on the whipped cream filling with a wilton tip 12. It’s more even if I do it that way.
To make the web design on the cake, I used a wilton tip 4.
